Hygiene Professional Team
Lesley, BS, RDH
Lesley is a proud, native Texan. She grew up in Corsicana and after high school, moved to Austin where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and minor in Business from the University of Texas. Working as a personal trainer was an exciting challenge for Lesley, but dental hygiene is where she found her true calling...
Upon completing hygiene courses at Austin Community College, she applied for a hygienist role with Austin’s best periodontist. Since then, she’s worked for none other than Dr. Yu and Associates. Lesley is meticulous, careful, and professional—not to mention, passionate—when it comes to her career in dental health.
In addition to her career, Lesley loves travelling, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling her three cats—Beasley, Mela, and Sam—whom she and her husband have rescued over the years.
Diversity, opportunity, and small-town charm drew Lesley to Austin. Her career—managing our hygiene team and promoting better dental health in Westlake—is why she still considers Austin her home (though she’s not particularly fond of the traffic).
"I love sharing my knowledge with patients! Teaching them how to improve their oral hygiene can help them lead happier, healthier lives. That’s why I come to work every day.”
Shaunda, AAS, RDH
Shaunda was born in Anchorage, Alaska where she lived for 3 years before spending the next 14 years moving around with her family and the Air force, including Belgium and New Mexico. Afterwards, she grew up mostly in San Antonio, and followed in her father’s footsteps joining the Air Force after high school. As a Senior Airman stationed at the Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, she entered the world of periodontics, where she assisted surgeons, and helped teach the residents.
She joined Dr. Yu and Associates several years ago as a Registered Dental Assistant, assisting Dr. Yu in surgery and chairside. Because of Shaunda’s natural aptitude and love of dentistry, Dr. Yu encouraged her to attend hygiene school to apply her years of experience, knowledge, and passion of periodontics to the hygiene profession. No surprise that Shaunda graduated at the top of her class! Our patients, doctors, and team are truly delighted to have Shaunda back at Dr. Yu and Associates working as a Registered Dental Hygienitst.
“I love working at a practice that implements the core values I learned in the military: Integrity first, service before self and excellence in all we do.”
Linda attended Austin Community College and has been a Registered Dental Assistant for years. Because of her unique skill set, she supports both our surgical team and our professional hygiene team. She loves interacting with our patients and getting to know all about them.
She has lived in Austin since childhood; her family moved from Snyder, Texas decades ago for better job opportunities. She married her high school sweetheart and has two beautiful daughters, Samantha and Sophia who keep her very busy. Linda enjoys spending time with family, event planning, and crafting in her spare time.
“I love that I get to work with the BEST Periodontist in Austin, that is my favorite part of my job!”
Daisy, BS, RDH
Daisy grew up in San Luis Obispo, California. She attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She worked as a Registered Dental Assistant for several years, including with Dr. Yu and Associates, then later attended Hygiene School at Austin Community College to become a Registered Dental Hygienist. After completing her advanced education, she rejoined our team.
She has many interests, most of which take her outdoors- like hiking with her husband, Steven, and gardening. She also loves to travel and spend time with her family in California. She loves dogs and has a sweet goldendoodle, named Mila.
Daisy is an important part of the Hygiene Team. She enjoys educating patients and strives to make them comfortable and happy with their dental experience at Dr. Yu and Associates. She is a natural caregiver and is excited to be back working side-by-side with her colleagues. “I love working with a positive, collaborative team that strives and delivers quality health care.”
